This year, we are celebrating the 10th year of Amazon Business, our smart business buying solution for organizations of all sizes. Over the past decade, we’ve grown from a vision to simplify procurement into a trusted partner for more than 8 million organizations worldwide.
Amazon Business was born out of a simple yet ambitious idea: to provide businesses with the familiar, seamless shopping experience Amazon customers love, but tailored to the unique needs of businesses. We set out to address common procurement challenges, from cost management to improving efficiency.
From Day 1, businesses needed more than just access to a wide selection. They needed tools, insights, and flexibility to make smarter purchasing decisions. And thus, Amazon Business became more than a B2B store; it became an strategic partner for smart business buying.
What began as a “nice to have” option for our campus community has evolved into a truly strategic partnership—one that continues to grow in value and impact.
Every year of Amazon Business has brought growth, innovation, and an expanded commitment to our customers. Alongside international expansion, we reached several important achievements that pushed the boundaries of what businesses could expect from their procurement solutions.
Amazon Business officially launched in the US, offering businesses of all sizes access to hundreds of thousands of products and business-only pricing. By creating dedicated multi-user accounts, customers experienced new control and convenience in their purchasing process.
Launched in 2017, Business Prime has become an essential addition to the Amazon Business buying experience. Designed for organizations of all sizes — from sole proprietors and small business owners, to large, multinational organizations with complex procurement processes — its benefits match the needs of more than three million worldwide active members across five plans. With Business Prime, members can benefit from fast, free delivery on eligible items, and other benefits such as Spend Visibility, enhancements to Guided Buying, extended terms for Pay by Invoice (upon approval), and Spend Anomaly Monitoring. Business Prime is growing with Amazon Business and is now available in 10 countries.
During the challenging months of 2020, Amazon Business became a critical resource for organizations sourcing essential supplies. We expanded our infrastructure and worked to ensure businesses could access personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning products, and other essentials to keep their operations running safely.
In celebration of Small Business Month we launched the Small Business Grant Program to help small entrepreneurs achieve big dreams. This program was created to provide support, funding, and resources to the engines of local economies. Hear from our current and past recipients here.
We surpassed $35 billion in global annualized sales, as more organizations across the globe embraced smart business buying. Leading organizations around the world use Amazon Business including 97 of the Fortune 100s and 18 out of the 20 largest US health systems.
Amazon Business launched Business Prime Rewards in 2024 in the US. With Business Prime Rewards, Business Prime members on eligible plans began earning points on eligible purchases after completing actions on their account. Members can then choose rewards as a payment method and redeem at checkout.
We also launched Amazon Business Restock, and began providing our customers with replenishment services – Managed Inventory and Vending – to take the hassle out of restocking their employees’ business supplies at worksites. Amazon Business technicians visit customer sites, deliver and order products based only on what you need, and restock items.
