In November, we’re bringing Amazon Business Reshape home to Seattle—a city where innovation and natural beauty collide.
Join us at the Seattle Convention Center | Summit building on November 12-13, where industry leaders, innovators, and decision-makers will gather for two days to share knowledge and inform the future of smart business buying.
While you're here for the conference, you'll discover Seattle’s endless possibilities for exploration. As proud Amazonians, we've pulled together our favorite local spots and hidden gems to help you make the most of your visit. Whether you're extending your stay or looking for the perfect dinner spot after sessions, consider this your insider's guide to the Emerald City.
Our hometown is full of experiences waiting to be discovered. Let’s dive into Seattle!
Oysters, teriyaki, and other culinary staples
Seattle’s food scene is a love letter to the Pacific Northwest—fresh, expansive, and deeply tied to the city’s cultural roots and many waterways. From neighborhood teriyaki joints to waterfront oyster bars, dining here involves savoring what’s on your plate while soaking in your surroundings.
- Access to the Puget Sound means our seafood is remarkably fresh and the views are unbeatable. Grab oysters on the half shell and a glass of wine at Westward, where Adirondack chairs line Lake Union and offers a stunning skyline backdrop. Or swing by Half Shell for a delicious seafood happy hour just steps from Pike Place Market.
- There are few things more quintessentially Seattle than teriyaki, a beloved staple since the 1970s, when local Japanese American restaurant owners created their own unique take. Today, you’ll find many teriyaki establishments throughout the city, each with its own specialty of grilled meats, sticky rice, and sweet-savory glazes.
- Seattle’s Asian heritage runs deep, and there’s no better place to experience it than the Chinatown-International District (CID), where Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipino, and Japanese cuisine, art, and cultures converge across generations. Whether you’re ducking into a decades-old noodle house or sitting down for a multi-course tasting menu, the CID offers a full spectrum of Asian cuisine, all within a few walkable blocks.
- We’d be remiss not to mention the fuel that powers our city: coffee. You’ll find a rich local coffee culture with meticulously poured single-origin brews, cozy neighborhood cafes, and standout independent spots on nearly every corner. Some of our favorites include Herkimer Coffee, Espresso Vivace, and Caffe Vita.
A hike, a ferry, or a trip outside the city
The best Seattle adventures usually start with a little curiosity...and the chance of a light drizzle. Whether you’re an avid hiker, a culture buff, or an eager sightseer, there’s something in the city for every kind of explorer. While some of these activities might be weather-dependent in November, we've included year-round favorites that showcase why so many of us call Seattle home. We're confident you'll want to return to experience everything our city has to offer across all seasons.
- Hop on the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry and sail across the Puget Sound for a classic Seattle experience. A half-hour or so away from the city, you’ll land on Bainbridge Island, where you can explore tasting rooms, boutiques, and cafes.
- For a scenic day trip just outside the city, head east to Snoqualmie Falls—a dramatic 268-foot waterfall that’s taller than Niagara Falls, and every bit as breathtaking. After taking in the misty views from the observation deck, treat yourself to a locally sourced meal at the Salish Lodge & Spa, perched at the edge of the falls.
- In the mood for a wind-down? Head northeast to Woodinville Wine Country, where tasting rooms and charming inns make for an easy afternoon escape. Or go hyper-local with a road trip to Taylor Shellfish Farms in Samish Bay for a beachside oyster slurp and a sip of crisp Washington white wine.
- If nightlife is more your speed, explore Seattle’s many neighborhoods. Go brewery-hopping in Ballard Brewery District, dance the night away in Capitol Hill, or catch a show at Belltown’s historic venue, The Crocodile, where Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and other iconic bands have performed.
To Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and beyond
Seattle’s most iconic spots are iconic for good reason, capturing the city’s creativity, culture, and views. Whether you're here for the first time or back again, check out the places that define the Seattle experience.
- Start at Pike Place Market, one of the oldest and most iconic public markets in the U.S. It’s where you can watch the fish fly, shop from local artisans, and grab lunch from world-class food stalls (this guide can help you navigate your many options). Don’t miss the new Overlook Walk, a pedestrian bridge with sweeping views of Elliott Bay that connects the market directly to the waterfront.
- Then, head to Seattle Center, home to the city’s most recognizable landmark, the Space Needle. The trip up the Space Needle is well worth the hype: On a clear day, you can see at least three volcanoes from the observation deck. While in the area, don’t miss the stunning Chihuly Garden and Glass and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP).
- A few blocks away is Amazon's South Lake Union campus, where you can visit the Seattle Spheres, a trio of glass domes filled with more than 40,000 plants from around the globe. Open to the public on select days, the Spheres are part jungle conservatory, part workspace—a unique stop in the heart of our campus.
- Explore Seattle’s past and future at two waterfront gems: the Center for Wooden Boats, where you can get hands-on with maritime heritage, and the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI), which tells the story of Seattle’s innovation legacy from aviation to tech.
- Art lovers will feel at home in Seattle, too. Wander through downtown Seattle’s Art Museum (SAM), home to an impressive collection of contemporary and global art. Or take a stroll through Pioneer Square—one of Seattle’s oldest neighborhoods—where historic brick buildings now house a thriving community of independent art galleries, studios, and design spaces.
- Start at Pike Place Market (and here's a local tip: never call it "Pike's Place" – it's a quick way to spot out-of-towners! Even Jeopardy! contestants have lost points over this common mistake).
